If your commercial awning is faded or raggedy it reflects poorly on your business. Customers may wonder, “If they don’t take care of their awning, what other aspects of their business are being neglected?” Even residential awnings that look old and dirty can take away from the look and curb appeal of your home, reducing its value. Plus, damage to your awning doesn’t just look bad – it can take a toll on the ability of the canvas to do its job.

At Canvasworks, we take pride in keeping old awnings looking and performing like new. Whether you need a repair in the frame or a complete awning recover, we have the experience to get the job done quickly so you can get back to enjoying your awning. Contact us today for a free estimate!

Signs You May Need to Recover Your Awning

Whether you purchased your awning from Canvasworks or another manufacturer, we can recover your awning and restore it to its original glory. You may want to consider recovering your awning if...

The fabric is faded.

We use fabrics specifically designed to be used for shade products that have a protective finish to make them last as long as possible, but no material can resist fading forever. A faded awning can negatively impact the appearance of your home or business, making it look outdated and unkept.

There are holes, tears, or runs in the canvas.

Holes and tears in the canvas of your awning can destroy the structure if you don’t make repairs promptly; once the wind finds a tear it will rip it wide open. If there are multiple tears, that’s a pretty obvious sign that your canvas is wearing out and the awning skin could use a complete recovery.

Your awning is caked in bird droppings.

Ignoring your awning and not cleaning it regularly is a surefire way to shorten its lifespan. Bird droppings are incredibly acidic; if not removed as soon as possible, they lead to permanent stains and color fading. If your awning is caked in it, sometimes a new skin is the best option.

There are other stains in the fabric.

If you commit to giving your awning regular light cleanings, you won’t have to worry too much about stains. But accidents happen – like when someone paints above an awning and drips onto the canvas. Stains on your awning are unattractive, making your home or business look less inviting.

The frame is bent or warped.

If your awning endures a storm with high winds or large hail, you might end up with a bent or warped frame that requires repair.

Your business name or logo has changed.

Recover your awning if your company logo or name has changed, so your customers can easily find your business.

Are My Awning Repairs Covered by the Warranty?

All of our residential and commercial awnings are covered by a five-year limited warranty. Whether your awning repairs are covered by the warranty depends on the nature of the damage to your awning and how it was caused.

Examples of damage covered by the warranty are: a stitching failure, a weld failure, and wear holes which developed in the canvas that are not caused by improper care, storage, or use.

The warranty does not cover damage created by injury to the stitching, material, skin, or frame. Examples include but are not limited to:

  • Damage caused by storms
  • Improper use
  • Rodents or pests
  • Accidents, such as paint dripping on the canvas while your building is being remodeled
  • Improper care, including power washing
  • Failure to clean the awning
  • Unauthorized modification or repair
  • Normal wear and tear
  • Damages caused by using the product while it’s broken

Warranty information is subject to change without notification and will be updated as needed. Find more warranty information and answers to other FAQ here.
